"If I was a caterpillar right now, I would turn into a chrysalis. And then, some day, I'd be a pretty butterfly and fly away and be happy and land on flowers... And then a bird would eat me. It's been a weird day."

So yeah...I'm

Holy crapola. I just returned a big pile of manga to Naomi Baloney, and in response she shoved all of this at me:
2 issues of Shonen Jump
vol. 1-5 of sCRYed
vol. 1&2 of Lodoss Wars: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight
vol. 15&16 of Inuyasha
vol. 22-25 of Ranma 1/2
vol. 1-4 of Rurouni Kenshin
vol. 1&2 of RaveMaster
vol. 3&4 of Sorcerer Hunters
@_@ *falls over*
Why do I buy manga again? Why don't I just mooch off of Naomi?
...Well, she doesn't exactly have much in the way of shoujo manga, actually. I get my action manga from her, but if I want the girly stuff I'm on my own. ^.^
Well, last night was Josh's mafia-themed murder mystery party. I went as Clair Voyant, Mama Rosa's best friend and astrological advisor. So basically I dressed like a gypsy woman, wore ginormous amounts of makeup (omg my eyeshadow), and donned glasses that made me look a bit like Madam Trelawney. 'Twas a good party...not as good as the first one, but still fun. Chris was the murderer. Heehee. ^.^
Here are some pics of me as Clair Voyant...warning, excessive makeup and scary glasses...
A portrait of Madame Trelawney in her younger, caked-with-makeup days. ^^
The only thing scarier than this picture is the fact that these were actually my mom's glasses in the 80's. Mother, whyyyyy???
Anyhoo, this morning I went berry picking with Naomi Baloney and her dad, the good Rabbi Goodman. ^_^ I did get a bit of a belly ache from eating too much berry goodness, but it's gone now. Now I'm waiting for Mrs. Lin to call me back...every year she hires me to do the calligraphy for her music students' certificates, and I need to drop them off at her house today. *waits patiently*

Heh. Big surprise there. <3
Yesterday unexpectedly became a very busy day. My mom and I had a meeting with my ADD coach at 10:30, then I thought we were gonna go home...instead we ended up running around doing errands and shopping and we didn't get home until 5:30. ^^;; In the process, I got some clothes for my fortune teller outfit for Josh's murder mystery party on Thursday. I need to practice doing horrible makeup. *snicker*
Anyway, last night I went to Target to fill out a job application, and Chris and Megan ambushed me in a very Russian manner. We went back to my house and had chocolate cake...and I was dubbed Lauren the Milkwench. I have a theme song. Do you realize that this could make a very very humorous Halloween costume? XD
Megan and Chris also had a really funny conversation about Josh...and how he's come out as a Jew. Evidently it's genetic, they think maybe his MOM might be Jewish *gasp* and we don't know if his dad knows. But according to Megan, Josh came out of the closet not long ago...I'm not surprised, he's been acting rather Jewish for a while. We all knew he was...he just needed to come out to himself and admit it.
Wait...Megan is dating Josh.......does that make Megan......JEWISH???
*falls over giggling*
I didn't get to watch the Tonys, but I taped them...hopefully I can watch tonight. Lots of musicals in there that I want to see: Wicked, Avenue Q, The Boy from Oz, Little Shop of Horrors...*sqee*

Well, what can I say about Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban?
Personally, I thought it was fabulous. I didn't really have any interest in owning the DVDs of the first two movies, but I want this one when it comes out.
Firstly, David Thewlis as Remus Lupin. I thought he did a wonderful job...the scene with Harry on the bridge was very sweet and well-acted. Yesterday I found a couple of websites that said people were upset they didn't choose a "hotter" actor to play Lupin...
please. The book never describes him as "attractive" -- he's a tired looking man with premature gray hair for crying out loud. It's his personality, his sweetness and vulnerability that made me appreciate him as a character, not what I imagined him to look like. David Thewlis actually looked somewhat like the picture of Lupin in my head...although the moustache was a bit odd. ^^;; It took me a while to recognize the actor too...finally I realized that it was the guy who played King Einon (the aggravating red-haired asshole) in Dragonheart. Which goes to show how good an actor he is, to go from such a slimey character to such a sweet one. <3 Thumbs up for David Thewlis!
Second, the "teenager clothes" that Chris complained about didn't bother me. They're teenagers, you think they wanna wear their uniforms
all the time?? *snort*
Third, that poster of Sirius Black cracked me up. He just won't stop screaming! I want one in my room! XD
Fourth, Emma Thompson as Madam Trelawney...omigod when I realized it was her I nearly died. Her GLASSES!!! She was so CUTE!!!
Fifth, Sirius and Remus didn't really strike me as slashy in this movie. They were very brotherly...but the book seemed much more slashy. In fact, in the movie version, I think Lupin fancied Harry's mom a bit, which is actually kinda sweet and sad at the same time.
There was one thing that bugged me about this movie...they didn't explain the Marauders and the map. They didn't tell the audience who Moony, Padfoot, Wormtail, and Prongs were. They didn't really emphasize the fact that they were all best friends, that they were mischief-makers. And they also didn't explain the glowing silver deer when Harry did his patronus thing. *sigh* Oh well, you can't have it all...
Overall, a great movie that I'd like to see again. Was the book better? Of course, the book is ALWAYS better than the movie version, it's like an unwritten rule. But the movie was still really enjoyable. ^_^

Mood] too awake for midnight
I don't know what it is, but every time summer rolls around I feel the need to burn myself a "Summer Soundtrack" for those blue-sky, warm days when you're cruising in your car.
I have a few songs so far for this summer...some are new, and some are old.
"Accidentally in Love" by Counting Crows...it's the opening song for Shrek 2. Just happy frolicking rock music. Sugary. Simple. Cute. ^_^
"Float On" by Modest Mouse, simply for the guitar. Definitely cruising music.
"Boys of Summer" by DJ Sammy. For some strange reason, it reminds me of Gravitation, even though it really has nothing to do with that series at all. And I like this version better than the original, and even the punk version.
"Kiss Me" by Sexy & Fat. It's a techno version of the Sixpence None the Richer song, in a foreign accent I can't quite place. It's just so...
happy. Love it.
"Take Me Out" by Franz Ferdinand...because it sorta sounds like an 80's rock song, but it isn't. Lauren likes. <3
"Burndt Jamb" by Weezer. It's so mellow, yet it isn't. Chill rock.
"Close to Me" by The Cure...because every time that little synthesizer comes in, I giggle. XD
"I Was Born to Love You" by Queen. It doesn't seem to be as well-known as their others songs, and I don't know why. It's a rock ballad that actually sounds happy. Ya gotta love Freddy Murcury. <3
"I Wanna Dance With Somebody" by Whitney Houston. Just because. XD
"Head Over Heels" by Tears for Fears. Anytime I'm walking down a sidewalk or anywhere outside where there's a good amount of people, I hear this in my head, and everything goes into slow motion, like it does in Donnie Darko. XD
And I have just discovered two "gay" songs that I really like.
The first is "Take Your Mama" by Scissor Sisters. At first listen, it just sounds like an early Elton John song, which is really cool by me...but then I got curious about the lyrics, and looked up the song on the internet. As it turns out, it's about a man taking his mom to a gay bar so he can get her inebriated, and then come out to her. It's so catchy!
The other gay song is "Michael" by Franz Ferdinand. I don't think I even need to talk about it...just read the lyrics
here. And I've heard rumors that this is their next single. The sweetness. ^_^
More music to be added...

[x] water backyard plants
[ ] plant new flowers in front yard
[x] do laundry
[ ] vacuum hardwood floors
[ ] see if Harry Potter is going down tomorrow *hopehopehope*
I SO should have woken up earlier. >_<
I have to say, the weather lately has been beautiful...my only complaint is that it's windy. Actually...scratch that. The wind was kind to me today; I took a shower, went outside to water the plants with soaking wet hair, and came back inside looking like somebody blowdried my hair perfectly. Thank you, windy! ^_^
The parentals are coming back at noon tomorrow. Dunno how that might affect Harry Potter movie plans. ^^;;
Got a letter from Foxhead yesterday, much happiness (and downloading of music) ensued. ^_~ I'll be writing back shortly, dear!
And yes, I have heard "Sleep to Dream," it's so angry and MUAAAH!~

Phrase of the Day] "I love the 90's!" "But it's too early!" "Don't worry, it starts in July!" - VH1 ad :D
Well, my parents left last night for Santa Barbara for the weekend, for some boring business-oriented thing my dad's going to (and he dragged my mom along...how sweet. -_-). And RIGHT before they left the old lady from across the street called...her husband was having congestive heart failure, so they had to drive him to the hospital before they went to the airport. There was much scrambling going on last night. And I missed a lot of it, because I was locked in my room reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I didn't get the full story until this morning. ^^;;
So my brother and I have our weekend duties: water the plants every day (there are a LOT of them in the backyard, oy vey), mow the front and back lawns, do the laundry, and take care of Phyllis across the street because she's stressed out about her husband Arthur, the poor thing.
To completely change the subject...omigod you guys I wanna go see the new Harry Potter movie. I keep reading LJ entries of girls squealing over it, and it's only adding fuel to the fire. Is anybody free to see it this weekend? Anyone? Anyone?? We'll Fandango!!*hopeful chibi eyes*
And on another excited note...
VH1 IS STARTING I LOVE THE 90'S IN JULY!!! *insert happy expletives here*
Now pardon me...I have to go mow the lawn.

Goddamn I love my costume.
Mike, Carrie, Jacqui, and me. ^_^
Oh look, it's us again.
We wanted to get a good picture of the gloves...my grandma worked FOREVER on them. Don't I look nuts? :D
Idunno why, but I really like this picture. Lookie, Duo has bat wings!! :D
Look, I found Ta-kun!! Damn him, he has a REAL guitar!! XP
Sakuma-san!! Shindou-san!! KUMAGURO!!!!!!
This Storm Trooper wanted to play my guitar. How could I say no to a Storm Trooper?? ^__~
A bit shadowed, but it's still mah Ryoga. ^_^ Someday I'm gonna get one of those P-chan plushies, I swear...
Jacqui was very happy to find another Duo. She turned out to be a damn good artist too...Jacqui bought an inked pic of Duo from her!
Great Teacher Largo uses a newspaper article to teach us the health benefits of b33r. His hair totally r0x0rs.
This was great...he was calling audience members up to participate in the "class," and one girl jumped up on the platform and hurt her ankle. Great Teacher Largo picked her up and carried her, princess-style, back to her seat. ^_____^ How sweet is that??
Last but not least...Domo-kun. Because every time you masturbate, God kills a kitten. And yes, that is a Hello Kitty doll and eating utensils. XD XD XD
